The Cisco SFP provides full-duplex 100-Mbps connectivity between switches over multimode fibre(MMF) infrastructures. It offers investment protection and an easy migration path for customers moving to Gigabit Ethernet connections in the future. The 100BASE-FX SFP operates on ordinary multimode fibre optical link spans of up to 2 kilometres in length.
Customers implementing Cisco 100BASE-FX SFP can use 1000BASE-X SFPs in the future (including SX, LX/LH, ZX, and coarse wavelength-division multiplexing SFPs). Main features include the following. Hot-swappable when deployed, the switch or router does not have to reboot. Interchangeable with other 100BASE-X SFPs on the same line card. Supports the Cisco quality ID feature that enables the switch or router to identify whether or not the SFP is a Cisco qualified SFP.
Optically interoperable with respective 100BASE-X Ethernet interfaces on the same link. Use only the SFP modules with your Modular Gigabit Ethernet line card.
